TEHRAN (IQNA) – Bahrain’s most prominent Shia cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim said the Jihad (struggle) against concession and normalization (of ties with the Zionist regime) is the continuation of the Jihad of Imam Hussein (AS).

Speaking on the eve of Ashura Saturday, the senior cleric said Imam Hussein (AS) refused to concede to injustice and oppression.

Thus, everyone devoted to Imam Hussein (AS) must act the same and today must stand up against normalization of ties with the Zionists, al-Alam reported.

He underlined that anyone who invites to justice and humanity is a follower of Imam Hussein (AS) and anyone who helps and seeks injustice and oppression is the follower of Yazid.

Sunday, August 30, marks the day of Ashura.

Shia Muslims around the world mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the Sayyid-ul-Shuhada (master of martyrs), in Muharram, the first month in the lunar Hijri calendar.

The third Shia Imam (AS) and a small group of his followers and family members were martyred by the tyrant of his time - Yazid Bin Moaweya, in the battle of Karbala on the tenth day of Muharram (known as Ashura) in the year 680 AD.
